From Scud** (oops! I mean Sid) Hartman's column in the Star Tribune today:

Gopher's hockey coach Doug Woog said he is happy that retired North Stars
forward Bobby Smith has offered to help with the Gophers hockey program while
he is attending the University of Minnesota. Woog said he expects Craig
Johnson, Chris McAlpine, and Darby Hendrickson to have good chances to make
the U.S. Olympic team. McAlpine and Hendrickson will attend the Olympic try-
outs at Lake Placid, N.Y., next month. Woog said that Johnson enhanced his
chances of making the team by playing well in the world championships in
Europe......

....The St Paul Civic Center will not only be the site of the 1994 NC$$ hockey
tournament, but it will hold the second annual Big Ten hockey tournament
Thanksgiving weekend in 1994 if the dates are available. The first Big Ten
hockey tournament, which will include Minnesota, Michigan, Michigan State,
and Wisconsin, will be held Thanksgiving weekend this year at Joe Louis Arena
in Detroit. (end quoted material)

** note: Mr Hartman has earned the *nickname* Scud for his loud and inaccurate
reporting!!! ;-)
