The Hartford Whalers. The Whalers are expected to announce in the next few
days that they have hired Lake Superior State coach Jeff Jackson as an
assistant to coach Paul Holmgren. Pierre McGuire and Kevin McCarthy are
currently assistants with the team, but the report indicated that Jackson
would be an additional coach and not replace either of those two.
