That probably didn't help, although the scouts presumably have some idea of
Mike's performance in Junior A before coming to Cornell. I'd agree that
Sancimino is the best of those three right now -- but in looking at "poten-
tial", which supposedly is what the Scouting Bureau is doing, I'd have to
give the sizeable edge to P.C. Drouin. Whether he'll ever realize that
potential is a whole other question...

Chartrand turned 18 in December (three days before Bill Holowatiuk, as a
matter of fact), so age isn't a problem. Since Brad doesn't have the game-
busting talent of, say, Paul Kariya, I'll wager that the NHL types are
thinking only one thing about him: 5-10, 170 pounds. That's widely con-
sidered too small to survive in the pros. (Paging Theo Fleury, paging Pavel
Bure) P.C. and Mike, in contrast, are both 6-1 or so. If Brad does
continue his hockey career after Cornell, he'll probably follow in the
footsteps of another 5-10, 170-pound former Big Red scoring demon (Doug
Derraugh) and go play in Europe. As far as Bando is concerned, I suspect
his tendency to drop down whenever an opponent shoots the puck, as well as
his skate-all-the-hell-over-the-defensive-zone style of play, works against
him in the scouts' minds.
