Mike Machnik expressed a few concerns about this contest, saying that when HOCKEY-L was created, he and Wayne never intended for it to become a popularity contest, and that the all contributors to the list are just as important. I agree that everyone who has posted anything USEFUL to this list (i.e. not the "Bruins fan" from a few days ago) has helped to make HOCKEY-L what it is today, a successful forum for the discussion of the greatest sport in the world :), college hockey. And yes, one way to see who has made this list so successful is to get the listing of subscribers from LISTSERV@MAINE (I didn't think the list of subscribers was made public, but anyway...). But there are quite a few individuals who have gone the extra mile with their contributions, and this is really the only way I could think of to do it. These people will obviously continue to go the extra mile for this list, whether or not there is an award, but they really deserve the recognition. I'm sure no one will feel the least bit slighted if they are not one of the three stars.
