Hopefully it was really Kent Schmidtke and not McGrath that they
cheered, since it was Schmidtke who took no penalties! I don't have
the final totals but McGrath had 20/40 at the end of the regular season.

Anyway, this inspired me to dig the following list of players out of the
statistics provided by Hockey East just prior to the playoffs; it's a
listing of all HE non-goalies who played in 30 or more games prior to
playoffs and took fewer then 10 minutes in penalties. (Kariya, btw, had
5/10 at the end of the regular season.) Again, stats are as of March 11th.

PLAYER (CLASS, POS, SCHOOL) GP G A PTS PEN/MIN
Shane Henry, Jr C/LW, UML 35 21 32 53 4/8

J.F. Aube, So RW, NU 31 13 7 20 1/2
Kent Schmidtke, So D, UNH 34 3 13 16 0/0

Henry was the winner of the individual sportsmanship award this season.
