As the 1993-4 College Hockey Season draws every nearer :-) ...

From today's _Michigan_Daily_ (14 April 1993):

HOCKEY RECRUITING:
'M' HOCKEY TO SIGN STAR WINGER by Michael Rosenberg

Michigan hockey coach Red Berenson is expected to announce
the signing today of prep school star Jason Botterill, a right wing
from St. Paul's School in Concord, NH. Botterill verbally committed
to Michigan at the end of February.
"I met people in athletics and academics, and I decided to
attend Michigan," Botterill said. "I hope to major in economicsm
and maybe transfer to the business school."
Botterill scored 22 goals and had 26 assists in 22 games
this season.
"I think my biggest strength is readin the play," he said.
...
St. Paul's head hockey coach Matt Soule said Botterill has
the ability to play beyond college.
"He just has enormous potential for a kid that age," Soule
said. "It would not surprise me if he was an impact player right
away. By the time he's in his junior or senior year at Michigan, I
think he could be an NHL player."
...
(rest of article is boring...)

-------------

Botterill is 6-foot-3, 205 pounds. I hope he can help replace the
offensive power lost in Roberts and Oliver (et al) as well as the
loss of Wiseman, Ouimet, and Stewart next year.

Now if we can just replace the defense we're losing...

-------------

Looking ahead (already!) to returning to Yost for Michigan Hockey...

Roger
