6 Badgers have been suspended for the first game of the WCHA playoffs against Colorado College. The six players are Blaine Moore, Andy Shier, Jamie Spencer, Mark Strobel, Shawn Carter and Jeff Sanderson. Moore, Shier and Spencer are half of the top two lines. Strobel has been starting at defense, paried with Barry Richter, the team captain. Carter and Sanderson don't play much. The players were part of a group cited for an after-hours party at a Madison bar. Only Moore is over the legal drinking age. The paper said that they did not violate a specific curfew rule. The police had not finished processing the citations. The suspensions were handed out after a meeting involving the coaches and captains (they didn't say if the suspended players were there or not). Richter was interviewed on TV tonight. He said that the players were "in the wrong place at the wrong time" and realize that they hurt the team. --david ps: today's is coach Sauer's 50th birthday. -------- david parter university of wisconsin -- madison [log in to unmask] computer sciences department
