Mike Traggio opened the scoring for Brown as he blasted a slapshot by Chris Rogles. At 5:28 of the first, Eric Track for Brown gave the Bears a 2-0 lead. James O'Brien made it 3-0 for Brown at 8:12. CU coach Mark Morris pulled Rogles in favor of Jason Currie but Brown scored another goal to give them a huge 4-0 lead. But Brown seemed to sit back a bit and took 2 penalties late in the period. Clarkson got on the board as Hugo Belanger took a pass from Guy Sanderson and put it by Brown goalie Mike Parson. Parson was huge in nets in the first period making only 10 saves but many of them were high quality. However, at 12:35 of a physical 2nd period, Hugo Belanger scored a powerplay goal with assists to Steve Dubinsky and Guy Sanderson. It was the 200th point of Belanger's career, ranking him 2nd all time in Clarkson history. At 16:41, Mikko Tavi fired a shot from the point to beat Parson with assists to Sanderson and Conroy. Thus the second period ended with Brown holding a tenuous 4-3 lead. At 9:46, Dave Seitz scored his 5th goal of the season as he fired a blast by Parson to tie the game at 4. Assist to Palmer. ight off the next draw, Tuomainen came in all alone but Parson made two huge saves. CU goalie Currie gave a long lead pass to Belanger who gave it to Tuomainen. Tuomainen put it by Parson to extend his goal scoring streak to 12 games and give Clarkson a 5-4 lead at 10:59 of the 3rd. It was Tuomainen's 50th point of the season. Craig Conroy was behind the net and fed a centering pass to Robitaille who fired it by Parson at 11:25. Mike Ross (is Ross from Glens Falls NY, by any chance?) scored on a blast from the blue line that baffled Currie at 12:31. At 12:53, Tuomainen won a battle in the corner and Marchant picked up the loose puck and centered it to Belanger who scored his 3rd of the night, 15th of the season. It is only Clarkson's second hat trick of the season (Steve Dubinsky in the 2nd game of the season). Just after goalie Parson had been pulled, Steve Palmer got control of the puck and put it into the empty net. Chris Cabann scored with :36 left for Brown to make it 8-6. Not bad considering that the Golden Knights started out 2-5-3. It was a great effort for the Golden Knights and they finally proved they could win a big road game. It was a great showing by Mark Morris' boys and they showed a lot of heart. Brown finishes an excellent season in a tie for 3rd with Clarkson. Mike Parson had an excellent 1st period but the team fell asleep in periods 2 and 3. Quite reminiscent to last year's finale between the two teams last year in Potsdam. Clarkson needed a win and a Harvard loss to capture the ECAC title. Clarkson took a 2-0 lead in the 1st and knew that Harvard was losing 4-0 in the 1st... but Tech fell asleep after the 1st and Brown won 4-3. Perhaps a little revenge? Clarkson hosts SLU in next weekend's first round. Safe to say that tickets will be hard to get. LET'S GO TECH!!!
