I watched a few minutes of the Clarkson-Brown final last night (well, OK, I didn't actually watch it....I could either drive to a high hill and try to pick up the fairly weak radio station which does Brown games or "watch" the scrambled NESN signal on our cable system....I chose the latter). They had an interview with Ronn Tomassoni. What follows is not exactly an exact quote but paraphrases fairly well: I hope we return to Lake Placid. The Olympic sized rink really serves our skating game well and works to our advantage. My questions: How big is an Olympic size rink (vs. standard 200x85)? After playing all year on std. size rinks, is it really fair to change such a critical component in the playoffs which clearly favors certain teams over others? A couple of further notes: The same issue applies to the traditional home of Eastern playoffs, Boston Garden, which has a small ice surface. Harvard's home ice surface at Bright Hockey Center is also slightly larger than standard although I don't remember the exact dimensions. -- ******************************************************************************* Jon Greene [log in to unmask] Data General Corp., Westboro, MA *******************************************************************************
