Hello, there. As a season ticket holder at Union here, I received a letter
in the mail today from the hockey team stating that there have been many
complaints from the local fans about the noise and behavior of visiting
pep bands. The rink staff is reviewing the policy this week and may rule to
not allow visiting pep bands to attend the game as a group. Just wanted to
warn the Hockey-L faithful of this new situation and was looking for
comments and opinions on this development. Personally, I don't mind the
bands. I have respect for other schools' fans who make an effort to
show their support by organizing a band to play at games. That support
is something we lack here at Union. I choose to ignore the behavior
of the bands since giving them your attention is what they want. My
father came up recently for the RPI game and was very upset over the
constant noise of the band, as well as their "obnoxious" behavior(his
words, not mine). At the end of the game, he demanded from the RPI band
leader an explanation for their "antics"(see above). Apparently, others
who frequent Achilles Rink agree. So, what does the list feel about
the possible banning of pep bands from Achilles? Just my 53 cents. Keith.
