From Sid Hartman's column in this morning's Star Tribune: ....Joe Louis Arena will be the scene of the first annual Thanksgiving Big Ten hockey tournament this fall (1993). Michigan, Michigan State, Wisconsin, and Minnesota will take part. The 1994 edition of the tournament will be hosted by Minnesota, with the first day of action at Mariucci Arena and the second day at either Target Center, Met Center or the St Paul CIvic Center. (end quotes) I wonder HOW this will work, seeing that both Wisconsin and Minnesota have their own *Holiday* tournaments where they play two non-conference games??? I certainly hope that this will not put an end to our annual holiday tourna- ments at the on-campus sites!!! I am definitely NOT happy about the proposed format when Minnesota hosts this new tourney. It seems that the only thing most athletic departments are interested in is making $$$$$$ !!!!!! :-( There is also a rumour going around campus here that the U of Minn is planning on scheduling the Minnesota-Iowa basketball game at the Metrodome! What sacriledge!!!! -Carol
