My mistake on the stats in the article about the Colgate women. Women making up 47% of the student body yet only 32% of the athletes does not imply a large percent of women particpating in sports - I misread that one!! However, what I meant to say is that just because the percent of women participating in sports in less than the percent of the women in the student body (and only 12% less at that) does not mean there is not equal opportunity. Perhaps the interest is not there. Also, this does not mean that 47% of the athletics funds should be used for women. Consider that some of the men's sports may be more expensive. And in some situations, a women's sport may be more costly!! Karen Miami University
