OK Rich, you're finally going to force me to post something to this group -- I can't let these comments slide. First, for the rest of you, I attended RPI from 87-91 and during that time I covered the Engineers for the RPI student paper. I attended virtually all RPI home games during that time and quite a few road games. I believe RPI gets the same officiating as any other team in the ECAC. Granted, there were games that I thought too many penalties were called and games were too few were called but I can't recall any game where I thought the refs cost RPI a win -- or were biased against RPI. When Addessa was coach, he used to bring up the refereeing in quite a few of his post game interviews. (of course, he'd bring up anything to deflect the blame for a loss from himself) Anyway, these comments in the media may have started this crazy idea many RPI hockey fans have that the refs hate RPI. Also RPI fans seem to think the entire NCAA is against them. First they bitched when the NCAA passed the "no noisemaker" rule in 1987 and they also complained when RPI was passed up for an NCAA tourney bid in 1990 in favor of Clarkson (although I'll join them on that gripe). I think Mike's said it best. When you're looking for penalties from just one team you're going to find a lot of them. well, it's lunch time. later Rick.
