I listened to this game on the radio. Anybody living in the Boston area knows why I did not go outside! Harvard scored all 4 goals in the third period. Basically, Chris Soucy stood on his head, turning aside a number of what sounded like serious scoring chances, although the messangers aren't exactly the world's most objective.* Vermont had nothing going on offense; their power-plays sounded terrible (Harvard outscored them, 1-0, on THEIR power-play!). UVM's had trouble scoring all year, so this was no surprise. Harvard continues to run up an impressive record against weak opponents (yes, I include Cornell in that set) at home. Harvard's ECAC schedule REALLY helps them out in the national polls and, by extension, in their NCAA bids. Consider: two ECAC teams finish the season 15-7. One plays an easy early schedule, starts out 9-1, turns human down the stretch, but stays in the top ten all year. The other plays their tough games early, starting 5-5, then plays great down the stretch, but only gets into the top ten at the end of the year. Guess who has the better chance of a high NCAA bid. Greg Somerville, MA Let's Go Red! * The Harvard announcers are... well, if you have the opportunity to listen to them sometime, form your own conclusions.
