Merrimack 3 2 2 - 7 Air Force 1 2 3 - 5 Air force outshot merrimack nearly 2 to 1 but lost the game. Each team scored on a 5 on 3, and air force scored on a 4 on 3. Merrimack drew first blood less than 2 minutes into the game. Air Force evened the score about midway through the period. Air Force narrowly missed taking the lead about 5 minutes later by fitting a post on a rebound with a wide open net. Merrimack then got two fast (what appeared to me to be soft) goals. In the second, merrimack opened the gap to 3 twice only to have air force narrow it to two. The killer was a merrimack shorthanded goal late in the third to open the gap back to 3 after air force narrowed it to 6-4 on their 5 on 3. both teams scored once more. If anybody wants stats (mike, are you listening) I'll post them from the paper in the AM. charlie shub -- [log in to unmask] (719) 593-3492 on leave at the University of Iowa (319) 335-0739 [log in to unmask] (fax) 335-0627
