This weekend, the Penn State Icers traveled to chilly Dearborn, MI for the
Michigan-Dearborn Thanksgiving Tournament. The Icers went into the Tournament
as the #2 team in the nation, and promptly showed why they should be #1. On
Friday, Penn State faced #6 Eastern Michigan, the only team to defeat #1 Iowa
State this season. The Eagles really never got in this game, as Penn State
took a 4-0 into the second period. When all was said and done, Ross Cowan
had a hat trick as the Icers skated to a 8-3 victory. So it was on to the
championship game to face #4 Michigan-Dearborn, who had defeated Buffalo St.
8-7 in the other semifinal.

On Saturday, the Icers exploded again the the first period, scoring three
goals in a span of 3:13, and held a 4-0 lead at the end of one. UMD tried to
get back in it, but the Icers' outstanding goaltender John Gray held the
Wolves to just one goal, as Penn State captured its second tournament title
of the season, winning 4-1. EMU defeated the Buffalo St. Bengals to capture
third place.
