Subject: RPI / PC Notes:
--------
After a major hype of a pre-season, the Engineers were set to fall flat
on their faces last night at RPI's Houston Field House. Instead they
came out fired up and proved the critics and their own coaching staff
wrong. The staff was concerned about an extremely high level of
confidence, coupled with a pathetic Red-White Game last week-end. In
beating Providence 5-3 last night in front of over 4300 in Troy, the
young Engineers took a big step forward in setting themselves up to
make a run at the ECAC title. RPI used its quickness and speed to
beat a bigger Friar team. Neil little looked relatively sharp in
Goal for the Engineers (1-0-0), as Providence continued to
struggle on the road. The Friars are now 0-2-1.

RPI's highly touted freshmen combined for 4 points, including Tim
Regan's (from Catholic Memorial) first collegiate goal. In gerneral,
the Engineers played solidly throughout the game, but by no means did they
dominate the Friars. RPI's power-play looked better than PC's, so
did the Engineer's penalty-killing, as they recorded a short-handed goal.
On five on five play, the game was a 2-2 tie, RPI was 2-8 (.250) on the
pp, while PC was 1-9 (.111).

Next Games: For PC, Sunday 11/1 at Vermont
For RPI Friday 11/6 vs BU, Sunday 11/8 at Merrimack.

 Bye, Tony
