(Note: this is a real game--the stats count--not an exhibition) BOWLING GREEN 8, TORONTO 1 October 16, 1991 (BGSU Ice Arena) Scoring by periods UT 0- 1- 0-- 1 BG 3- 4- 1-- 8 Power plays Penalties/Minutes UT 1/8 17/34 BG 1/9 16/32 REFEREES: Jeff Shell, Jim Sotiroff LINESMAN: Robert Faria ================ For the trivia buffs, the first goal of the 1992-93 college hockey season was scored by Bowling Green's Brian Holzinger, as the Falcons beat the visiting University of Toronto Varsity Blues 8-1 Friday night. BGSU's aggressive and physical play helped them open up a 3-0 lead after one period and a 7-1 margin after two. The final period turned into a penalty-filled affair with the Falcons netting one goal to finish off the scoring. Holzinger added a second tally to lead the BG scoring attack. Freshmen Jason Helbing and Jason Clark each found the back of the net in their first collegiate games. Defenseman Todd Reirden added a goal and two assists. Toronto's lone marker came on the power play and was scored by John Anderson. Paul Henriques, UT goaltender, saw heavy-duty action and performed admiralably. Many of his 30 saves in the first 40 minutes were of the "spectacular" variety. He ended up with 34 saves for the game. Will Clarke started in goal for BGSU and saved 8 of 9. Angelo Libertucci relieved Clarke and stopped all 8 shots in his 20 minutes of work. ===============
