well, I'd say hockey has co-sacred cow status here, and that the faculty
committee sees it as their place to try and reign in the big money sports
programs.  That also explains their resistance to restoring the 19th and
20th hockey scholarships.  Indeed, in a time when there are University-wide
cutbacks going on, I don't think a faculty committee is going to be too
sympathetic to anything that requires spending MORE money on sports,
(although it seems to me that 85 football scholarships with a traveling
squad of 60 is ridiculous, when hockey only gets 18 for a squad of 20!)
