One more comment on the effects of the gender equity policy. It's been in the papers here for a few weeks already, and the people from the Women's Athletic Department say the intention is to add opportunities for women, not cut them for men. Of course, those things often don't work out the way they're planned, but one of the problems then lies with the NCAA. It offers very few sports for women that the University could possibly add. Other than adding women's soccer, which they've been proposing here for years, about the only other sports they could add are sports that no one in Minnesota plays (like lacross). Who knows, maybe this would push the NCAA to sanction women's hockey, to add more sports for women to play. Pam Sweeney
