   It is poor etiquette to request sign-off from any list VIA THE LIST.
 
   If you don't have the disk space to hold the list welcoming
   message(s), then at least copy the list administrator's address onto
   a piece of paper and throw it into your desk.
 
   Because of (your) local network configuration changes, it may not be
   possible for you to sign-off automatically.  In this case, or if you
   don't remember how or can't figure out how to sign-off automatically,
 
       SEND MAIL TO THE LIST ADMINISTRATOR, not the list.
