Today's local "Courier-Freeman," a.k.a. Curious Fishwrapper, reported that Potsdam native Brian Putnam signed with UNH. Brian, a post-graduate senior (what the hell is a post-graduate senior?) at Northwood Prep chose UNH over Clarkson and Boston College. When at Potsdam Central, Putnam was a Northern Athletic Conference All-Star. Putnam, who suffered a severe groin injury mid-way through the season, played on Northwood's top line with Kevin Murphy (bound for Clarkson) and Trevor Hanson (Providence) last season. The only stats on Putnam were that he's 5'8" and 185 lbs. UNH now have three forwards and four defensemen committed. Also headed to Clarkson from Northwood is Josh Bartell, nephew of the former Golden Knight defenseman Ross Bartell (I see Ross at a lot of Clarkson games). Clarkson and UNH will start off the 1992-93 season together on Halloween night at Clarkson's Cheel Arena. Mike Zak Clarkson '87, '90 (and Aug. '92)
