FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE/Report #22

THREE CCHA TEAMS GARNER SPOTS IN NCAA SEMI-FINALS

This is the second time in NCAA history (beginning in 1948) and the
first time since 1981 that three teams from one league are in the NCAA
Semi-Finals. In 1981 the WCHA sent Wisconsin, Minnesota and Michigan
Tech while Northern Michigan represented the CCHA.

The most CCHA teams ever to reach the NCAA semi-final was two, in 1984
(Bowling Green-first and Michigan State-fourth). All three national
titles won by CCHA teams have been in even years in the East
(BGSU-1984-Lake Placid, MSU-1986-Providence and LSSU-1988-Lake
Placid).
