Well, in order to figure out how to seed teams, one could take 3 teams
from each conference, play round-robin in two groups (A, B), then take
the top remaining teams after round-robin play and work your way towards
a final with one team from each group. This is the way the Olympics works.
It does, however, make for more games and drags the process out. You could
always just take the top 2 from each rather than the top 3 to reduce the
number of games also.
