Well, the NC$$ tournament is under way and that means all bets are off in our little pool. There was a total of 26 repsonses, with an approximately equal number from east and west. The table below shows how many people picked each team to make it to the given stage. For example, it means that 8 people picked SLU to make it to the semifinals, 4 picked Northern Michigan to make it to the final game, and 3 picked Michigan to be national champions. Team Q-finals Semis Finals Champs Michigan BYE 19 19 3 No. Mich. 24 5 4 1 Clarkson 2 2 2 1 SLU BYE 8 1 Wisconsin 8 8 UNH 18 10 Minnesota BYE 17 1 1 Lake Sup. 24 9 4 3 Alaska-An. 2 Maine BYE 26 21 17 Mich. St. 15 BU 11 Some interesting observations: A majority of you expect to see Maine beat Michigan for the national title. Maine was a unanimous choice to get past BU/MS to Albany. Only two people picked Clarkson to get by NMU, but they stuck with the Knights, picking them into the finals and beyond. Similarly, although a majority of people picked Minnesota to eliminate Lake Superior in the semis, LSSU still ended up tied for second favorite to win it all with 3 votes. In the first round, the BU-MS game was the most hotly debated, while the SLU/Wisc./UNH bracket seems to be wide open for a ticket to the Knick. If we put the crowd favorites in the brackets, we get: No. Michigan |No. Michigan Clarkson____| |Michigan____ Michigan____| | |Michigan____ St.Lawrence_ | | Wisconsin___ |NewHampshire| | |NewHampshire| | NewHampshire| | |Maine_____ LakeSuperior | |LakeSuperior | Alaska-Anch.| |Minnesota___ | Minnesota___| | | |Maine_______| Maine_______ | Michigan St. |Maine_______| |Michigan St.| Boston Univ_| Good luck to all entrants !!!!!
