On Saturday the RPI engineers defeated the top ranked team in the ECAC,
the saints of St Lawrence University, 4-3 in overtime. Though the
engineers were playing a bit over their heads in this game they did show
to me and all the fans that they will be a force to reckon with in the
future. This year only a few seniors are departing the team which leaves
the door wide open for next year. Top players Xavier Majic (soph), Jeff
Brick (frosh), Craig Hamelin (soph), and Kummu (jun) will all be back.
Starting goaltender Neil Little will also be returning for another season.
Backup goaltender Tim Carvel has also showed some promise and is ready to
accept the starting job when Little departs.

With four ECAC games left against Cornell, Colgate, Yale, and Princeton,
the engineers must at least win or tie them all to be considered seriously
as a threat in the ECAC playoffs. If the team does win its final four games,
the top teams had better watch out for them in the playoffs. The team has
hit a hot streak and if the streak continues in the playoffs nothing will
stop them. The test will be this weekend during the two road games at Colgate
and Cornell. Both games are winnable on the road.

If anyone has any ideas about who will make the final tournament at the
Knickerbocker arena please email me so i can post the results of the survey.
