Mike writes: NU had three great chances to tie it in the final minute, the best being when a Huskie player had a rebound in the crease with Cashman down and out, and he lifted it over the crossbar with seconds left. Words don't do justice to what a fantastic game this was to be at. The replay I saw on the NESN monitor made it look like a sprawling BU defenseman just managed to deflect a low shot up and over the net with his stick, thus saving the goal. That was a heartbreaking miss, but justice may have been served as I thought Northeastern's 4th goal should have been waved off. A Northeastern player followed his own shot into the crease, colliding with Cashman (the ugliest Div. 1 player?) who had made the initial save, deflecting the puck outside the crease. Another NU player then shot the puck into the net while the original player remained tangled up in the crease with Cashman. Since the puck went well out of the crease isn't it a violation for the original player to remain there? In any case it was a great game. The Harvard-BC contest seemed somewhat sluggish by comparison (but congratulations to the Crimson on their first out of conference win in two years, and only the second since they won the NCAA championship in '89).
