1. OK, am I missing something here, or does it seem to anybody else that admitting the two Alaskan schools INTO DIFFERENT CONFERENCES is splendidly, profoundly stupid? It's as if somebody said: "hmm, let's try to figure the very most expensive way of doing this!" 2. Say a college hockey player is declared (for whatever reason) ineligible for the Fall term. The athlete becomes eligible again for Spring. At what date can s/he once again compete: first game after end of Fall final exams end; first game after Spring registration; first game after fIrst day of Spring classes? 3. There has thus far been a tremendous, dramatic split between the first and second divisions in the ECAC this year. In 34 games that have crossed between the current top six and bottom six, the bottom six have managed a grand total of four points: RPI defeated Brown, Vermont tied Brown, and Union tied Yale. That record, 1-31-2, bears the responsiblity for the remarkably strong conference records of the top 6 teams, a combined 42-12-12, out of which 11 of 12 losses and 10 of 12 ties (actually reflective of 5 of 7 ties) are attributable to head-to-head matchups between top six teams. 4. One of Bill's December postings mentioned Jiri Kloboucek as potentially joining the Big Red this semester. I haven't seen him out there; does anybody know anything more about his status? 5. The Red seem - that's seem - to have a come a long way on defense since the break. Granted that Duffus has been magnificent during the winning streak, he also hasn't exactly been under unremitting pressure! Well, Colgate put nine goals in on Soucy as opposed to Cornell's one - I think that in and of itself should be enough to nip any overconfidence in Ithaca before this week's crucial home-and-home. Greg Boston Let's Go Red! Just 285 days until the Mets win the World Series!
