A resolution to be passed by the MTU board of control on Friday, will Officially change the name of the 4,200 seat facility to the John MacInnes Student Ice Arena In honor of the Late John MacInnes Huskie head coach from 1956 thru 1982. John Passed away on March 6, 1983, at the time of his death he was the winningest coach in college hockey history with 555 victories. The "STUDENT" part of the name will remain at request of John who would have it no other way.
