Today's Boston Globe reports that Lane McDonald has re-retired from hockey.
His last game was with the U.S. Olympic team against Harvard on Nov. 12.
This retirement is not sparked by a particular incident. But the latest
migraine medication was not effective, and the Globe reports that
McDonald was unable to speak for 15 minutes following a hit in a game against
the Calgary Flames in a September game. Regardless of medical necessity,
I can understand McDonald's decision, since he was clearly not playing
up to his previous standard. Best of luck to Lane in future endeavors
(the Globe reports him moving to San Francisco to enter the business world).
