MinnesotaUs Jeff Stolp halted DenverUs scoring for the remainer of the night as the Golden Gophers scored five unanswered goals. At 2:55 into the second period, Denver goaltender Bryan Shoen was struck by a Craig Johnson slap shot and was sent to the training room for stiches. In the meantime, freshman goaltender Jason Van Herik, in his second appearance in net, allowed two goals. Shoen, who replaced Van Herik 9:02 later, recorded 21 saves on the evening. Stolp recorded 27 saves on the night and shut down DUUs power-play as the PioneerUs went 0 for 15 with a man- advantage. The Coaches: Head coach Frank Serratore is in his second season with the Pioneers. He most recently came from the Omaha Lancers of the USHL where he was general manager and head coach.
