After a slow start, Minnesota beat Minnesota-Duluth 7-3 on Friday evening. Trailing 3-1 in the second period, Minnesota broke things open with: 2 goals in 7 seconds (a school record) 3 goals in 32 seconds and 4 goals in 2:16. The game was filled with penalties as referee Greg Shephard attempted to call the hooking, holding, and interference closer as has been promised. This was a good start for the Gophers as they play 7 of their first 8 games on the road. -- John J.
