I got this off the net. Great that so many people are posting on how Team USA is doing! Paul mentions Clark Donatelli in several places as playing for USA - where is this coming from? He played in 1988, but he wasn't at the tryouts, isn't on the list Carol posted in August of players who made the cut and I have not heard of him joining the team. Is this supposed to be Ted Donato? When I forwarded the San Jose-USA box, I made one change. Donatelli was listed as assisting on one goal; I assumed that meant Donato. Now we have two separate people saying that Donatelli is playing for Team USA. Any clue? - mike ----forwarded posting follows---- From: [log in to unmask] (Paul Marchant) Newsgroups: rec.sport.hockey Subject: TeamUSA 3 - Buffalo 3 Date: 25 Sep 91 17:20:08 GMT Last night at the Riverfront Coliseum in Cincinnati, OH, TeamUSA and the Buffalo Sabres skated to a 3-3 overtime tie. Only a few radio announcements. No TV nor newspaper ads that I saw. Ticket prices were high. Overall it was a pretty good game. TeamUSA played very poorly in the 1st period. Their passing was sloppy, power play was inept, and play was sluggish. Buffalo's play was much better: crisp passes, hard checks, and good defense. TeamUSA woke up during the intermission and played much better in the second period. Passing was still very sloppy. Both teams played good defense and there was lots of hard checking from both sides. The third period was the best. TeamUSA tied it up within the first minute of play. Then, Tkachuk and Mogilny went at it in the corner to the right of Littman. Franceshetti got ejected for jumping in the middle after the fight was well on its way. Both teams played hard and fast for the remainder of the game. Kuntar was excellent in goal to prevent the loss. Overall, those who attended were treated to a good show. TeamUSA, however, does have several weaknesses that they need to eliminate if they want to compete with the other olympic teams. Their passing is very sloppy and hap-hazard. Their power play is not organized. They were very ineffective when they had two 5-3 opportunities(few shots and no goals). They played sluggish until midpoint of the second period. Need to work on playing hard for 60 minutes. Buffalo played well. They switched goalies midpoint of the second period. Not due to poor play by Puppa. I think just to get a look at Littman. Buffalo notables absent: Mike Ramsey Dale Hawerchuk Rick Vaive Dave Andreychuk Pierre Turgeon Sorry about not providing times of goals or penalties. I was hoping to get that from the paper this morning, but there was no write up. __________________________________________________________________________ Paul Marchant | Opinions expressed within | (513) 865 - 1637 Mead Data Central | are my own and not | Data Technology P.O.
