About 30 Maine hockey alumni, including seven former All-Americans, gathered in the Orono area last weekend for golf, barbecues, fun and, of course, a hockey game. It was great to see the "old-timers" such as Andre Aubut and Robert Lafleur displaying their talents with many of the recent graduates, many of whom are now in some level of professional hockey. Coaches Walsh and Gendron also skated (Walsh was assessed a "gross infraction" for an illegal stick). Among the on-ice officials was Gary Thorne, a former Black Bear radio announcer and long time booster of the program. Gary now broadcasts for ESPN (baseball) and the NJ Devils. Great fun was had by all! Relief at Sockolexis Memorial Arena on Indian Island, from the 95 degree heat, was a treat! The rosters were (approximately :-() ...
