Got out my 84-85 UIC Flames Hockey Media Guide to look up Mark Mazzoleni, who was an Assistant at UIC at the time. Says here - Mazzoleni won four letters as a goalie at Michigan State and had 2094 career saves. The native of Green Bay was named most valuable freshman at MSU in 1976 and won the MSU Blue Line President's Award as a senior for having the highest grade point average on the team. Later I think Mazzoleni had great success at Wisconsin Stevens Point. In 84-85, present UIC Head Coach Larry Pedrie was in his first year as Assistant to Val Belmonte. The picture shows that Larry had more hair then. Knew those media guides would come in handy someday!
