Also in the paper was an article about the possible change in the NCAA's hockey tournament, as heard first here. It is the 12-team field with the two regional sites hosting 6 teams, 4 from that region, and the top two getting a bye for the first game. The series are single elimination. It is a proposed format, recommended by the committee. The NCAA's executive committee will consider it next week. Laing Kennedy said that the proposal seemed to be agreeable to the coaches. Clarkson's coach Mark Morris was quoted as saying that he guessed it was "a good alternative." However he thought that the best judge of a team was a best-of-three series, but that that involves a lot of money and time. Kennedy also said that if the new format was accepted, that they would begin to implement it, however he didn't know if next year's final in Albany could be changed. Mike Zak Clarkson '87, '90
