Who else who saw the Maine/BU final last night thought the officiating was just terrible? Frank Cole was blind! There was a nasty hook early on in the first, and each time there was a penalty, Cole insisted on offsetting minors. And then, of course, there was the play that made the lowlight film: BU's Ahola completely took out Maine's Jean-Yves Roy with a hook to the NECK. Maine coach Shawn Walsh apparently said something to the effect that everyone in the Garden except for Cole saw it. NESN got a great shot of Walsh demonstrating the offense by putting a stick to his neck. From my vantage point (in section 79 -- balcony) I thought he was going to toss the stick on the ice. We chanted "CHEAP ... CHEAP ..." of course. I have seen Cole twice before this season, once with Maine at Lowell and once in a non-league game up in Orono, and both times, he seemed quite fair, although very tight, calling more penalties than, say, McBride :-) But this was, I thought, his worst performance. -- Josh Hartmann | ___ ___ | ``the imagination is like an [log in to unmask] | | | | | | engine that can work on many mit-eddie!mit-athena!josh | / | | | \ | different fuels: but it must BITNET: your gateway | / / \ / \ \ | be powered, and sex, properly DISCLAIMER: My parents | |___| |___| |___| | used, is a fuel of high already claimed me | MAINE HOCKEY! | potency'' -- PROPAGANDA
