Last night at Walker Arena, the Golden Knights knocked Army out of the playoff picture with a 7-1 victory over the Cadets. Junior Scott Thomas had a natural hat trick and senior Dave Trombley added 2 goals. The first period was unusual to say the least, as it was delayed due to lack of referee (presumably due to all the snow we got up here yesterday). After the delay, the 2-ref system was used, until about halfway through the period when the actual referee showed up. Clarkson scored two goals within 18 seconds late in the first to take a 2-0 lead after one. I wish I had seen the second period, as the Golden Knights scored 5 unanswered goals (as it was, I had a fraternity function I had to show up for). The Knights took their 7-0 lead into the locker room after two periods of play. In the third, Army replaced goalie Brandon Hayes with some guy named Pearson (who didn't even appear on the roster given in the program). Pearson stopped all 13 shots on goal, while Army managed to ruin freshman netminder Jason Currie's bid for a second shutout with a goal at the 19:14 mark. Currie had 24 saves on the night. Tonight is "Farewell to Walker Arena" night, as this is the last regular season home game ever in Walker. Clarkson President Richard Gallagher will make a speech before the game, and there will be a banner contest tonight. There's even a rumor that former Golden Knight Dave Taylor (who just recently scored his 1000th career point in the NHL) will be present. Should be a win for Clarkson, as they play 10th place Princeton...HOWEVER, eye witnesses at St. Lawrence report that the Evil One, Pierre Belanger, has returned to action (he now has his name on the back of his uniform), as the Saints nearly blew a 4-0 lead, but hung on to win 5-4. Pierre was reportedly up to his old tricks. You don't suppose they'd send Pierre to "Farewell...Night", would they? (Or is this "Pierrefest '91" BTW, does ANYONE have the final score of the Brown-Cornell game? Last I heard was Brown 1, Cornell 0 in the third. If Brown won, Clarkson and Cornell are now tied for first place. Also, if RPI beat Harvard, the Golden Knights are guaranteed home ice for the ECAC Quarterfinals. Well, that's all for now. Onward to victory! Jeremy Hall Clarkson University "LET'S GO TECH!!!!!!" (looking to be 14-0-1 at Walker!!!)
