Thanks to Kap and Wayne for giving a few words on the game. One note: Maine is now 14-1-2 at home, the loss coming at the hands of Lowell, but the Black Bears will play 8 of their last 12 games (all Hockey East) on the road. The four games in Alfond will be with BU (2) and Merrimack (2). at BOSTON UNIVERSITY 8, NEW HAMPSHIRE 4 BU moved into sole possession of first place with this win, their 200th W at Walter Brown Arena where BU is 200-83-18. The Terriers got goals from Keith Tkachuk and Tony "That's" Amonte to take a 2-0 lead after one, but UNH roared back with three goals from Joe Flanagan and Kevin Thomson (2) to go ahead in the second, 3-2. Then with the teams playing four aside, Tom Dion and Shawn McEachern scored 14 seconds apart at 17:28 and 17:42 to suddenly give BU a 4-3 lead after two periods, and they would not look back. David Sacco and McEachern made it 6-3 by the halfway mark of the third, and after Greg Klym made it 6-4 at 13:18, Petteri Koskimaki and Dave Tomlinson connected 22 seconds apart to close out the scoring. Scott Cashman got the win in the BU net with 24 saves, and Pat Morrison stopped 36 shots for UNH. at PROVIDENCE 6, LOWELL 5 The Friars saw a 5-1 second period lead fizzle as Lowell came back to tie it, but in the end PC was able to hold on for the win. Rob Gaudreau and Bob Cowan gave PC a 2-0 lead after the first period. After Gaudreau and Lowell's Dan O'Connell swapped goals 15 seconds apart early in the second, Mario Aube and Brian McCarthy put PC up 5-1 before Dave Stevens scored for Lowell with six seconds left in the period. Then, the Chiefs shocked the Friars by scoring three more goals in the third to tie the game. O'Connell scored his second goal of the game at 1:54, Dave Pensa tallied at 7:19 and Steve Ablitt made it 5-5 at 12:31. But just 28 seconds later, freshman Brian Ridolfi scored the go-ahead goal and game-winner, and the Friars escaped with a close win. Mike Heinke, who has kind of struggled since his hot start, had 16 saves for PC and Dwayne Roloson had 29 for Lowell. at PRINCETON 6, ARMY 3 Terry Morris scored two goals, including one in a decisive first period in which Princeton took a 3-0 first-period lead, and the host Tigers prevailed. (that was taken from the paper) The win moved Princeton into a tie with 7th-place Vermont, although the Cats have four games in hand on Princeton.
