Sat. night was another good night for the back to form Clarkson team. They beat Army 3-1. The Clarkson defense seemed to gel and held Army to only 22 shots, 5 in the first and third periods. Clarkson 3, ARMY 1 Again Clarkson started the scoring as Cassleman took a pass from Thomas, who was behind the net, and beat Chretien @ 7:50 in the first. The Clarkson defense smothered the Army offense and made Chris Rogles' life easy, allowing 5 shots. Clarkson got thier 2 pp goals of 5 chances in the second period. Dubinsky put a loose puck in the net @ 6:35. Cassleman had one-timed a pass from Tretowicz off of an Army defenseman. Hugo Belanger then redirected a croos-crease pass from Trombley past Chretien @ 12:38. Similar to last year, Rogles had his shutout ruined with 3:20 left in the third when Tamburino scored on the pp. Chretien wound up with 20 saves while Rogles had 21. This was a good solid defensive effort. The coaches are probably more pleased with this score than the one against Princeton. This weekend should restore the teams confidence as they head off to Orono to meet Western Michigan in the Dexter Tourny. Hopefully they'll get a chance to play Maine. Clarkson tends to do well in the Christmas break tournaments. They beat Colgate last year in Syracuse. I believe that the game had three OT's (or maybe it was the year before?). St. Lawrence 6, PRINCETON 3 SLU came out strong in this game and went up 4-0 by the end of the first period. Scoring was: Wells @ 1:37, (he had another off the post on the rush immeadiately after the ensuing face-off), E. Lacroix @ 2:46 pp, Verbeek @ 14:07 and M. Lappin @ 19:22. Faust scored 2 pp goals in the second on his way to his hat trick. A blast from the center point beat Kuntar @ 7:04, and a goal @ 10:55. SLU increased thier lead on the pp in the third period when Pritchard scored @ 2:16. Carvel scored for SLU on the pp @ 6:52. Faust scored the last goal @ 9:08. Princeton had 15 of thier 30 shots in the third period and really tested Kuntar. High had 7 saves for Princeton and Salsbury (correct spelling) had 15.
