The stories about throwing stuff on the ice made me recall an incident
when I was at Bowdoin College a few years ago. We always play Colby
College (the big in-state rival) twice a year; once home, once away.
One year, when Bowdoin was playing at Colby, some of the Colby fans
threw tennis balls at our goalie after they had scored. Not to be
outdone, when Colby came down to play at Bowdoin, there was a pregame
tennis ball party (bring two tennis balls, get in free) which was
widely attended. Needless to say, when Bowdoin scored their first
goal, the ice turned yellow with tennis balls.
