FROM SID HARTMAN'S COLUMN IN THE MPLS STAR-TRIBUNE THIS MORNING (7/10/90):
"John Perpich is leaving his position as Ferris State hockey coach to
become an assistant coach with the Washington Capitals. Perpich played at
Minnesota, was an assistant Gophers coach, was head coach at St. Cloud State
and worked for NHL Central Scouting before coming to Ferris State. 'I got to
know some of the Capitals executives while with Central Scouting' Perpich said.
'I have wanted to get with the pros for a long time.'"

personal note: I guess this surprises me because I don't remember John as
being that great a player or a coach. Anyone from the CCHA
care to put in their two cents worth on this???
