Good day! Please excuse cross-postings:

Here are highlights from the next three months of grant opportunities, via Maine Philanthropy Center. Highlighted at the end of this email is an excellent opportunity for Maine libraries – particularly small and rural – to access MPC’s database of grantmakers when it might have been cost-prohibitive before. Thank you to Maine Philanthropy Center for this opportunity!

The Betterment Fund

The Betterment Fund is a charitable trust founded by the will of William Bingham, II in 1955. The Fund’s general categories of grant-making include Community Support, Education, Health, and Conservation. Specific priorities within these general categories, as well as cross-sector areas of interest, are defined on the Fund’s website here: www.bettermentfund.org.

Grants are made exclusively for the benefit of the people of Maine. Although the Fund does some grant-making statewide, its primary geographic interest is western Maine, followed by Maine’s other rural rim counties. It does little funding in the mid-coast or southern Maine regions. At present, the Betterment Fund has three annual grant-making cycles. Please see the website for details.
