Senator Collins took a pic with our group yesterday when they were working on this and told us about it!  We only saw her for a few minutes, and she was (as always), so kind and gracious.  :)

Good morning MEEOA fam,
We received this news yesterday from Kimberly Jones:

I’m reaching out to let you know that today the Senate Appropriations Committee marked up the FY24 LHHS bill and, like the House, it level-funded TRIO. (You can read about the entire bill here.) We don’t have all the numbers but it seems like TRIO (and GEAR UP) were among the few programs that didn’t take a haircut in this legislation. All things considered, this is a powerful statement about their support and testament to your work in letting legislators know the value of our programs.

While level funding still poses challenges, given the climate & pressures on the appropriations process, it is the best result we could have hoped for. Please reach out to Katie Brown & Lara Rosner (contacts below) to express our gratitude for Senator Collins's support and advocacy that ensured TRIO & GEARUP were spared the "haircut" Kim referenced.

Thank you all for your ongoing advocacy efforts that continue to sustain bipartisan support!

Have a great weekend, all!

Ginny

Hey TRIO Fam in Maine!

I’m reaching out to let you know that today the Senate Appropriations Committee marked up the FY24 LHHS bill and, like the House, it level-funded TRIO. (You can read about the entire bill here.) I’m reaching out because I’m hoping that you can send messages of thanks to Senator Collins for protecting our program? Here are the best points of contact for her office…
