Hi Terry,

We screened the documentary Unlikley a couple of years ago during First-Gen week and did a Q&A afterwards. It was a worthwhile.

Have a good week,

This is another great idea. I am so excited by the energy of the First Den Day committee and momentum within the state. Let's see how far we can take this!

Good afternoon, MEEOA!

The First-Gen Day committee is developing a repository of resources for all things first gen<https://docs.google.com/document/d/1i8biMkiVc1H0oyALn2-ezM1X8HQabnQ0pMOpbn8KKNQ/edit>, and we need your help.

We are asking you, the experts in first-gen success, to help us curate a list of exceptional books, movies, websites, speakers (you name it!) that are either by, for, or about first-generation college students. The idea is to co-create a list of resources the MEEOA membership can use to inspire, advocate on behalf of, or otherwise inform our work with first-gen pioneers.

Right now the list is a google doc that we have populated with responses from the survey we sent out and resources we have used. We welcome any suggestions you may have as we build this idea out and sincerely hope everyone will take the time to peruse and contribute!

Other First Gen Day updates:

* Thanks to everyone who took the time to respond to our survey! The two most popular ideas were 1) a poster campaign to wallpaper our institutions with first-gen students/faculty/staff and 2) another book club, possibly with a speaker. More details to come!

* As Terry Charlton informed you, the NASPA/COE 2023 First Gen Celebration Grant applications are open! This year institutions can apply for grants of $1000 to go toward National First Generation College Student Celebrations. You can learn more about the grant and see ideas from 2022 celebrations here<https://firstgen.naspa.org/engagement/first-generation-college-celebration/first-generation-college-celebration>.

* We are still looking for awesome first gen books! Please add any suggestions to the MEEOA Crowdsourced First Gen guide<https://docs.google.com/document/d/1i8biMkiVc1H0oyALn2-ezM1X8HQabnQ0pMOpbn8KKNQ/edit>. Ashlee Fecteau (UMF SSS) has been in communication with the writer/speaker Tevin Ali<https://www.talkwithtevin.com/about>-has anyone worked with him before? One idea we had was to share expenses to bring a speaker to Maine.

Thanks, MEEOA! We look forward to hearing from you. If you would like to join our efforts, please reach out to me, Ashlee Fecteau, or Tony Staffiere! We'd love to have you!
