*What is happening?*
At 6AM on Wednesday May 18th. We will change the alias ldap-1.its.maine.edu
<http://ldap-2.its.maine.edu/> to point to a system running a more recent
version of OpenLDAP. In addition, we have an alias, ldap.its.maine.edu,
that points to two older OpenLDAP servers and we will change it to point to
the two new OpenLDAP servers.

Any service running on recent software should be unaffected. Older
systems are unlikely to be using these LDAP aliases. We do not allow
access to our LDAP servers from outside our network, so external services
are not affected.

*How long will it take?*
The change should be visible on our name severs within a few minutes.

*Why is this work necessary?*
For security and support reasons we need to keep our systems running on
recent well supported operating systems and software.

What happens if the work is not successful?

We will change the aliases back to point to the old systems.
