TRIO Scholars is a student support service that is funded by a federal
grant to serve students who are the first in their families to earn a
bachelor's degree, meet Federal income guidelines or have a documented
disability. The TRIO department amplifies and intensifies many services
found on campus and focuses specifically on helping students navigate all

The University of Maine at Augusta and the TRIO department are seeking
applicants for the full-time position of College Success Counselor I on our
Augusta campus. This position will work with the Director and other TRIO
staff to provide direct service and support to students through academic,
career and college planning, and degree completion services in order to
achieve standardized program goals and objectives in accordance with the
grant.

Salary: The hiring salary range for this position is in the high 30 to low
40s and is commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Required Qualifications:

   - Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (Updated 12/2/22)
   - Competency in providing student guidance
   - Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
   - Computer literacy, including familiarity with spreadsheets and
   databases
   - Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize
   - Strong organizational and record-keeping skills



Preferred Qualifications:

   - Master's degree in Human Services, Education, Student Personnel
   Administration, Social Work or other related fields, or some graduate work
   - Experience providing direct student service in higher education
   - Relevant experience with working with first-generation college
   students, individuals with low income, and/or individuals with disabilities
