Good morning,

Yesterday we met with Gaby Watts for our COE Government Relations meeting.
I want to pass along the information that was shared with us:

-The highest priority for COE right now is putting pressure on the
Department of Ed to release the UB slate and to make changes in the future
so this late notice does not continue to happen. We were told that the UB
slate will be released at least by May 27th. One of the problems they had
was that 200 readers dropped out and they had to find additional readers.

-All UB programs have an automatic no cost extension until 9/30. You do not
have to apply for this. You will be allowed to spend down any of your
current funds before you start using your new funds.

-There is work being done to find a solution so that all June 1 start dates
for UB will be moved to Sept 1. This would be a gradual process and
wouldn’t happen all at once.

Expected dates of awards for other programs:

                McNair-7/19

                UBMS-8/19

                VUB-8/22

                Training grants-8/23

-TS/SSS/EOC should receive their GAN’s by the end of July. They are still
working to continue to fund down the slate.

-Because SSS grants were written pre-pandemic, some of the objectives may
be unrealistic now. You can talk to your program specialist about
re-negotiating your objectives.

-All Covid flexibilities are continuing to be allowed even for new
programs. You do not have to ask. The language says they will continue
until September 30 of the year the pandemic ends. The pandemic has not
ended yet. TS programs must continue to ask for permission to give stipends
if they wish to do that.

Hope this is helpful information! Have a great day!
