Dear TRIO Colleagues:
We know that many of you are anxiously awaiting the results of the FY22 Upward Bound grant competition. This time is particularly stressful for those of you who operate programs with a June 1 start date. Please know that COE is working diligently to assure that the announcements are made as soon as possible.
We have learned that the initial grant results have been approved by the Office of Postsecondary Education. They are now being processed through OMB.
Currently, the Department plans to issue no-cost extensions through September 30, 2022 for programs with a May 31 expiration. The Department intends to issue the no-cost extensions by next Wednesday, May 18. We recognize that this does not resolve the challenges you are facing involving retention of staff, preparation for your summer programs, etc.
COE will continue to work very closely with leadership at the Department of Education, OMB, and Congress to accelerate notification of the competition results.
