Quiz # 25: Wait, the Date is Wrong!

Hey, Mr. DA, you dim-witted dingbat, what the devil are you doing dishing
out a detestable quiz on Thursday? Don't you yet realize that quizzes are
for Fridays, not Thursdays?!

Well, yes, I do realize that, actually.
However, I am planning something special, or at least different, for
tomorrow, hence this premature quiz. And, as the subject line suggests,
this quiz will pertain to dates....the wrong dates. This quiz contains a
list of false statements, all of which contain dates. Your task is to shift
the dates around so that all the statements are correct. Oh, and just to
make your life a bit more difficult -after all, you DID call me a
dim-witted dingbat- a date or two on this list might or might not actually
be correct.

FALSE STATEMENTS

1. Albert Einstein died on May 5, 1961

2. Sputnik became the first artificial satellite to orbit the Earth on July
29, 1957

3. World War II started on December 7, 1941

4. New York City became the first US Capital on September 22, 1789

5. The US Postal Services was established on October 28, 1886

6. Ellis Island immigration station was closed on April 11, 1955

7. Alan Shepherd became the first American in space on October 4, 1957

8. Pearl Harbor was bombed by the Japanese on September 1, 1939

9. President Eisenhower signed legislation creating NASA on November 12,
1954

10. The Statue of Liberty was dedicated on September 13, 1788
